When i try to access the page i want to edit (anandamide) i get the error message XML error: Comment not finished at line 29. What does this mean/what should i do?
Q:Dear Henry Rzepa,
Q:I am a second year student and I am a little bit worried about the CIT Wiki project. Can you tell me is there an actual point or reason in everybody being able to edit all of the pages? Wouldn't it be better if everybody was able to create there own personal page which is then submitted to you by the given date? Could this be done using Wikipedia or is this just a 'down side' to using this rather than HTML?
A:Last year, students very much wanted to collaborate on the projects, rather than do so individually. This point was made strongly at the staff-student committee. If everyone does their own project, we find perhaps 20 people will all choose the same project, leading to much duplication. In fact the "real world" is not like that. In the real world, people DO collaborate on projects. Its only the artificial world of students where it traditionally does not happen. Here, apart from testing your chemical ability, we are also finding out your ability to collaborate together. --Rzepa 10:08, 20 October 2006 (BST)
Q:Just as an example, what if somebody finds some information and puts it on the page and another person finds some information from a different source that is slightly different and edits what is already on the page believing themselves to be correct. Who is to say who is right?
A:Both people express their point of view. We are not testing who is right, but
in effect who has expressed a point of view. That again is the "real world"

Q:Somebody has already messed up the main page and I am slightly worried that similar things may continue to occur (even though it will all be logged)!
A:Its very trivial to repair such damage. One aspect of the project indeed may be repairing damage that others have done (often by accident). Again, that is the "real world". A "repair" may count as much in your favour as actual content deposition. Indeed, if eg one student reveals that their main task has been such repair they may well get full credit for doing so in their final grade. A:To illustrate the point, I have taken the liberty of posting this entire email and my reply into the "discussion" page for the project area, so that other people can benefit from your question and my answer. They can post their own questions, and answers if they wish. --Rzepa 10:05, 20 October 2006 (BST)
