MestreNova

The MestreNova program has a site license which can be invoked by all students. Proceed as follows:

1. From the Start/Run line of a Windows system in the department, enter \\chnts1\winfiles\MestreNova
2. The current installer is MestReNova-5.3.0-4487-Win-Setup.exe
3. Run the program, and from its Help/Evaluate menu answer yes to the question Do you already have a license file and then press Activate to select this file
4. The file itself is in \\chnts1\winfiles\MestreNova\current_licenses as Imperial College London_Campus_NMR.lic
5. Because the license file actually has to access a license server, you will have to be online (and if at home, connected via the VPN) for the license to actually activate
6. Remember also that the drive R: in which NMR data files are actually mounted is only exported to computers in the so-called Chemistry department subnets. If you do want to process these files away from the department, you will have to copy them to eg a USB memory stick first, and then copy them to your own computer.
7. The same license file can also be used to activate MestreNova on a Macintosh computer
   1. In the connect to server Finder menu of OS X, connect to smb://chnts1.ch.ic.ac.uk/Winfiles
   2. Open the MestreNova directory
   3. Copy MestReNova.mpkg to your local hard drive and double click to install.

Do NOT attempt to install anything later than version 5.3 (our license will not be valid for any later versions that might be available via the MestreNova site itself).
