Mod:linux:windowshome
Appearance
NB: This only works when inside College - you can't do this from home!!!
- You need to know which server your home directory is on. The easiest way to find out this information is by using the My Info Start Menu item from Windows. It should say something like "Home Directory = \\icfs2.cc.ic.ac.uk\username" The bit that says icfs2.cc.ic.ac.uk is your server name. Now get back into Linux!
- From the menu panel at the top of your screen, choose Places -> Connect to Server
- Change the dialog box to match these values:
Service Type: Windows Share Server: <the server name discovered in #1> Share: <your college login> Folder: <leave blank> User Name: <your college login> Domain Name: IC Name to use: Windows_Home
- Press the Connect button
- A dialog window will popup asking for your password, which you can choose to save (tick Save password in keyring).
- You should now have a file manager window showing your Windows Home and an icon on your desktop called Windows Home
