The Cambridge crystal database

This is hosted both locally (license required) and on a Linux server. To connect to the latter, you need to invoke a secure shell command of the following type:

ssh -Y user@neon.ch.imperial.ac.uk cq

from the terminal mode of your computer. Most Unix based systems have terminal as an application (Mac OS X for example). You also need to have the X11 server software installed on your computer. With OS X, you have to specifically request this when you install your system, or you can add it later as a specific request.
