Cold Reactions -78°C to -100°C

For cold reactions in this temperature range the CRTS recommend using alcohol as the liquid medium around cardice in shallow form dewars and for -100°C immersion chillers.

Although acetone may be cheap it strips the paint from all but Heidolph stirrers not to mention other lab equipment. This is not just cosmetic as it also protects the equipment from all other kinds of chemical abuse it may encounter in labs. Alcohol will not cause these problems and will help your equipment to last longer.
