It's intereseting to see, that the chair isn't the most stable conformation with molecule 10.
Goes to show that your initial remark on six-ring energetic stability is correct for cyclohexane - but it shows that this piece of info has to be interpreted. It can be right (molecule 9) or can be wrong(10) or can be right again (10, with trans H pointing down).
